The 31st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards won’t just have any host, as it was announced on Monday, December 15 that the Screen Actors Guild has once again tapped “Nobody Wants This” actress Kristen Bell to take the reins, seven years after she made history as the first ever host of the prestigious ceremony.

“Thrilled to be hosting the SAG Awards again this year,” said Bell via statement. “I’m honored to be asked back and can’t wait to share the evening with my fellow actors, doing what we do best… celebrating ourselves 🙂.”

“Kristen Bell’s wit, warmth and charm makes her the perfect fit for our show — a night celebrating actors and the outstanding performances of the year,“ said SAG Awards Executive Producer Jon Brockett in his own statement. ”Plus — everybody wants this.”

Though the 2024 ceremony was mostly hostless, with actor Idris Elba opening the show, and correspondents Tan France and Elaine Welteroth filling in what would have been commercial breaks with winner interviews, Bell’s appointment in the show’s second official year at its new home on Netflix aligns with what co-CEO Ted Sarandos initially indicated were the streaming service’s aspirations for its take on the awards show, suggesting to IndieWire at the 75th annual Emmy Awards that network talent like “Emily in Paris” star Ashley Park would be ideal host candidates.

Interestingly enough, the Netflix series Bell currently produces and stars on, “Nobody Wants This,” has made her a major contender for the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series category at the upcoming SAG Awards that she’ll be hosting. Bell has already earned a Golden Globes nomination and a Critics Choice Awards nomination for her performance in the hit romantic comedy series co-starring Adam Brody.

Nominations for the 2025 SAG Awards will be announced on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. The guild has also already announced that legendary actress and activist Jane Fonda will be presented with SAG-AFTRA‘s highest tribute: the SAG Life Achievement Award at the February 23 ceremony.

The 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards will stream live on Netflix, on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall, and are produced by Silent House Productions.
