Trost Brothers' 'The FP' Premiering February 25 Cinefamily; Drafthouse Widen Release March 16

Alamo’s Drafthouse Films will release “The FP” on March 16, following a February 25 red carpet premiere at Los Angeles’ Cinefamily’s Silent Movie Theater. “The FP” is a “ferocious nod to big-budget studio action fare and underdog sports dramas of the 1980s.” Directed by brothers Jason and Brandon Trost, and with their special effects expert father Ron Trost (“Mortal Kombat”) as co-producer and FX coordinator, the film is a “high-concept comedy set in a dystopian near future where a relentless turf war rages. Two rival gangs feud for control of rural wasteland Frazier Park in the deadly arena of competitive dance video game “Beat-Beat Revelation.” Their sister, Sarah Trost, served as costume designer. The film premiered at SXSW, where it was declared a cult hit by Moviefone and “loud, furious and recklessly funny” by Indiewire.

Drafthouse’s Evan Husney calls the film “an ambitious, explosive and hilarious indie film achievement.” Alamo/Drafthouse founder Tim League adds, “as fellow fans of films like ‘Kickboxer’ and ‘Rocky IV’ we’ve been immersed in the films ‘The FP’ lovingly homages.”
